Convalescent soldiers were a familiar sight in Stirlingshire. They wore bright blue blue single-breasted jacket with a white lining - worn open at the neck, blue trousers, a white shirt and a red tie. To complete the outfit they continued to wear thier own service headgear with its regimental badge. The suit was known as the 'blue invalid uniform', 'hospital suit', 'convalescent blues' or 'hospital blues'. Curiously - it usually had no pockets!
